Sudanese parties sign framework political agreement

Khartoum, Dec. 7 (Sudanow) - The Sudanese parties signed today, at the Republican Palace, amid regional and international presence that included the trilateral mechanism, ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions, political framework the controversial agreement to end the political crisis in the country, in preparation for formation of a government to complete the transitional period.
The agreement was signed by the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, and Commander of the Rapid Support Forces General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
The agreement which consists of 5 main articles including “general principles, issues and tasks of transition, transitional authority structures, statutory bodies, and issues of the Final Agreementwas also signed by the political forces, including the National Umma Party, the Sudanese Congress, the Unionist Party, the Popular Congress, the Forces of the Declaration of Freedom and Change- the Central Council and a number of political forces, the military component, the Revolutionary Front, the Sudan Liberation Army, the Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance, the Beja Congress, and a number of professional organizations and alliances.
UN Secretary General Special Representative for Sudan and Head of the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS) Dr. Volker Perthes, addressing the signing ceremony, said that this signing is a good basis for restoring democratic civil rule in Sudan.
He congratulated the Sudanese people on the signing of the framework political agreement, calling on the international community to support this consensual approach.
Mr Perthes said that the signing is a courageous step that guarantees the rights of the components of the Sudanese people to expression, the families of martyrs, women, youth, and civil bodies, and is a turning point in the Sudanese political issues.
