Sudan in between internal requirements, foreign dictates and blurry endings

By: Rogia al-Shafee

Port Sudan (Sudanow) In middle of regional and Geo-political storms, Sudan stand in a serious critical crossroads. As since erupting this war about two years ago, the country turned to an open yard of foreign tensions, war of agendas and initiatives, as an extension to all-out war.
About Sudan future within these conditions talked to (Sudanow) political analyst Dr Muawiya al-Toum Bukhari’’ Although regularity work in ‘’government of hope ‘’ and continue to carry out its tasks, but still internal requirements presses are imposing sharply , while questions accumulate about the end : where is Sudan going?
Under sever unprecedented pressure, Sudan found itself amid economic, security, and political storm and living needs, where internal aspirations and foreign dictates are disputing in same time. The country faces not only worthy results of war and destruction but also besieged by international and regional arrangements to impose their agendas either via political pressures and sanctions or revert opposition groups in new shapes to present them as ready- to- rule alternatives. While as, these foreign matrixes are consisting on ruins of depleted country, requirements of internal reforms of reconstruction are increasing. Thus, obscurity of situation and predictable ends among fears of the leaders and nation, which are:
Foreign Dictates:-
‘’ Foreign interference in Sudanese affairs became not only political support, diplomatic pressure and media confusion but it exceeded to explicit forms of matrixes, funding, reconsenting of power balances on the ground and on an open battlefield. International powers considers Sudan as fulcrum in Red Sea and strategic extend to African Horne, while some regional powers considers war is a chance to prepare its polices and enhance its influences via supporting one party at the expense of another. All that turned Sudan to colossal painting with foreign dictates and projects that depends on interests rather than principals among tumultuous waves’’ explained dr. Bukhari.
‘’More than, foreign interferences in Sudan’s affairs become a shown conflicting of wills between Great States , as each country try to impose its influence plan in Red Sea and African Horne. Some of these forces looking to Sudan via cold pragmatic view without any attention to the lifted and what will be behind of the society’s destruction and turning the state into chronic conflict arena for decades to secure its control over ports , resources or strategic waterways’’ said Dr Bukhari and went on saying in this context , some international and regional parts target to reproduce the opposite groups in new forms and submit them as ready-to- govern alternatives, in line with their interests rather than the priorities of the Sudanese interior. And so on these foreign conditions turned to a tool to sustain weakness and difficulties rather than an method for settlement and stability.’’
Concerning Internal Requirements, Dr Bukhari explained that’’ Sudanese Interior face serious challenges exceeded danger of war itself. there is urgent need to consist institutions of righteous civil governance, to reform a social contract that stop social bleeding of disarray and restores trust between the citizens and the state. Some requirements topped reform list as to reform the civil, security, and justice Institutional system, to achieve transitional justice , to solve displacement and refugees issues , to repair economy and national currency that collapsed because of war and siege. These demands appears to difficult to implement in frame of severe political divisions and fragmentation and pressure of the basic services collapse.’’ Dr Bukhari continued ‘’Sudanese interior still in need to unpostponable demands due those people who sacrifice so much for freedom and dignity. They deserve to gain results of their struggle and get decent life and sustainable security. The real requirements is to establish project of sustainable peace, the important challenges of citizens’ s daily life. This not a political luxury but a vital necessary to Sudan to remain a unified and one- entity.
Blurry of ends: -
In between foreign motivation and heavy crises of interior appears more mysterious ends. Does the process will end with a political settlement imposes via international pressure as the rebellion and its sponsors want? Or to divide the country into exhausted and conflicting regions according to prepared plans? Or dose war will continue as a long -term state of attrition that consumes what is remain of society energy and capacities. Absence of an inclusive national vision makes all scenarios imaginary and increase concerns but puts Sudan in middle of storm without compass.
inconsistency between foreign adventures and internal options. The regional and international interferences may appear attractive or stressful, but still is a leap into the darkness with destiny of the state via repeating and feeding weakness.
In contrast, the most difficult and perhaps most costly path is to invest in internal options and safe opportunities, to adopt a comprehensive national settlement based on strengthening sovereignty, to improve a social contract and build an internal consensus that overpass division. These options may be so hard but quit enough to arrange the way to a safe and secure end. Then the fog will transfer to an open horizon towards a national state able to withstand dictates and tension.
On conclusion of his speech to ( Sudanow) , Dr Bukhari confirmed ‘’ Today Sudan face not only challenge of war but question of existence: Does the country remain hostage to foreign dictates and its pressures? and why? Or does it success to turn internal demands and priorities to an inclusive national project , that could achieve via its people and leaders. The blurred ends are not inevitable, but it is a reflection to absence of a unified national Will. Once this Will be available, the course of events can change and turned the ambiguity to a horizon that open on stability and construction, not on disintegration and collapse’’.
‘’Doubtless, foreign dictates whatever varied their tools between pressures and attractions are seeking indeed to replace Sudan’s weaknesses with arrangements to guarantee the interests of others and state of failure, even cost is a venture with the state’s destiny. But what are unknow is that internal situation, spite its division, still has historical chance to provide an inclusive national project that balances between stability and sovereignty. The blurred ends are only a reflection of an incomplete equation: whenever inside succumbs to conditions and promises of outside, the more declining options and venture become deeper. And does Sudanese formulate their own solutions by themselves, that will result to different ends , less ambiguity and more stability via strengthening factors of national unity and its potential strength’’ confirmed Dr and went on saying’’ core of challenges is: Does Sudan let alone to formulate via foreign parts according to others plans or does its leaders be brave to take internal options and to formulate their future by themselves however the costs , Are there more cost in all history of Sudan than horrors of war. And its terrible results. And the bill we pay now and coming generations ? we should trust in our leaders on the military and political levels and to look forward for to write heroic history , extraordinary achievements and victory however is challenge .
