Khartoum (Sudanow) – Sudan's activities for World Space Week 2025 received praise and recognition in the 2025 annual report issued by the World Space Week Association (WSWA), which operates under guidance of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in Vienna.
The report highlighted Sudan's active contribution to organizing scientific and awareness-raising events as part of the global celebration of World Space Week.

The report also emphasized the prominent role played by Professor Moutaman Mirghani, in his capacity as the National Coordinator of World Space Week in Sudan, who led efforts to organize a number of scientific and educational activities aimed at disseminating space science culture and promoting interest in space technology among students, researchers, and the general public.
Professor Moutaman Mirghani, told Sudanow Magazine that this recognition, especially at this time, reflects Sudan's growing prominence within the network of countries participating in global space activities. He added that it also underscores the importance of the efforts led by Sudanese specialists and researchers in disseminating scientific knowledge and fostering interest in space science among younger generations.

The National Coordinator of World Space Week in Sudan considered this recognition an international acknowledgment that academic and research fields have quickly returned to normal, despite the systematic destruction and devastation inflicted upon them by militias in the past.
He emphasized that celebrating World Space Week is among the activities that the Institute of Space Research and Aerospace (ISRA) has been holding annually for several years in the capital, and that the event also extends to several other states.
He add that “the report commended Sudan's consistent participation in World Space Week, with the association celebrating ten years of continuous Sudanese participation from 2015 to 2025”. This achievement is a testament to the commitment of academic and scientific institutions in Sudan to raising awareness of space science, its applications, and its role in supporting development.
World Space Week is the largest annual global event dedicated to celebrating space science and technology and their contribution to improving the human condition. It is held annually from October 4th to 10th, with the participation of hundreds of educational and research institutions and scientific bodies from more than 90 countries worldwide.

Last year's Sudanese Space Week included several lectures presented by specialists, including Dr. Anwar Ahmed Osman, whose lecture was titled "Life in Space: How to Live in Space." Dr. Abubakr Mastour's lecture was titled "From Simple Particles to the Chemistry that Brings Life" and Professor Moutaman Mirghani also presented a lecture titled "Requirements and Feasibility of Life in Outer Space."
The week's activities spanned numerous university colleges and even schools in the capital and several states. Some lectures were also delivered online. The Attendees and viewers alike responded positively to the valuable information presented. The theme of Space Week was "Life in Space."
This international recognition is a testament to the significant efforts of dedicated Sudanese citizens in the field of space science and technology. It reflects the country's commitment to promoting scientific awareness and the role of space in sustainable development. Furthermore, it serves as an incentive for those leading this program to continue their efforts so that Sudan can further advance in this field and build a better future for generations to come.
