Today in Cairo, the late Sheikh Al-Tayeb Wad Badr—may Allah grant him His vast mercy—passed away. He was the successor (Khalifa) of Sheikh Al-Obeid Wad Badr in Um Duwan Ban, head of the “Call of the People of Sudan” initiative, and one of Sudan’s most prominent judicial and religious figures. He died after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of religious and national service.

Biography:
Sheikh Al-Tayeb Al-Jadd Wad Badr was born in 1930 in Um Duwan Ban, where he grew up in a distinguished Sufi family. He memorized the Holy Qur’an in the khalwa (traditional Qur’anic school) of his grandfather, Sheikh Wad Badr.
He later studied law and, upon graduation, joined the judiciary, steadily rising through the ranks until he became a judge at the Supreme Court. Throughout his judicial career, he was known for his integrity and commitment to justice.

Religious Career:
He assumed leadership of the Qadiriyya Badriyya Sufi order after the passing of Khalifa Othman Omar Badr in 2002. He was regarded as one of the leading Sufi figures in Sudan, with wide influence among followers through his calls for reform and adherence to religious values.

National and Political Role:
He launched the “Call of the People of Sudan” initiative for national consensus, aiming to bring together political forces and achieve comprehensive national agreement at a time when the country faced major challenges. The initiative reflected his commitment to Sudanese unity and his efforts to promote dialogue and coexistence.
Conclusion:
The death of Sheikh Al-Tayeb marks the end of a life rich in religious, judicial, and humanitarian contributions in Sudan. May Allah envelop him in His mercy and grant his family and loved ones patience and solace.
