KHARTOUM (Sudanow) — Khartoum State is today witnessing an exceptional sporting event carrying significant messages and implications that extend beyond football into the broader concept of national security, reflecting the state’s ability to restore security and provide reassurance to citizens.
The Competitions Committee of the Sudan Football Association has announced the official draw ceremony for the Elite Stage of the Sudanese Premier League season, scheduled to take place today at the Sudanese Football Technology Academy in Khartoum. The event has drawn major attention from sports and media circles, as the stage represents the decisive phase in the race for the league title.

It is important to note that sporting activity disappeared from Khartoum for three years because of the war, forcing the football association to organize the competition in other Sudanese states due to its crucial importance, especially regarding continental representation. The move was a necessity imposed by the circumstances of the period. Despite several challenges, the experience ultimately ensured Sudan’s continued participation in CAF competitions.
To maintain continuity and keep players prepared, the country’s top clubs — Al Hilal SC and Al Merrikh SC — took part in leagues in Mauritania and Rwanda. Today, both clubs are returning to Khartoum to revive sporting activity and restore the city’s football atmosphere.
Eight clubs have qualified for the Elite Stage after reaching the decisive round of the competition: Al Hilal SC, Al Merrikh SC, Al Ahli Madani, Hay Al-Wadi Nyala, Hilal Al-Sahel, Um Magd Al-Kamleen, Al Hilal Al-Fasher, and Al-Falah Atbara.

The draw ceremony is expected to be attended by officials from the Sudan Football Association, representatives of Premier League clubs, veteran football players currently in Khartoum, and a wide range of sports media outlets across different platforms, reflecting the high level of interest surrounding this season’s competition.
The organizing committee has completed all technical, organizational, and logistical preparations to ensure the ceremony is conducted in a manner befitting the importance of the occasion and the prestige of the competition, especially since the Elite Stage is regarded as one of the strongest and most important phases of the Sudanese Premier League.
Vice President of the Sudan Football Association and Chairman of the Competitions Committee, Mawlana Mohamed Suleiman Halfa, confirmed the committee’s full readiness for the draw ceremony, noting that all preparations had been finalized and invitations extended to Premier League clubs and media organizations to participate in and cover the event.

Sports fans are eagerly awaiting the draw results and the anticipated clashes between competing teams, amid the high ambitions of every club to compete for the title and achieve the best possible results during an Elite Stage expected to deliver excitement and fierce competition among all participating sides.
The grounds of Cooper Stadium in Khartoum, Dar Al-Riyadah in Omdurman, and Khartoum Stadium — following the completion of maintenance work — will host the Elite League matches that determine qualification for continental competitions. The return of football to these venues revives memories of national rivalries that traditionally begin calmly before gradually intensifying and reaching their climax in the famous summit clash.
For many observers, the return of the tournament to Khartoum represents a public declaration of the stability the capital has regained.

Khartoum, (Sudanow) — Wide-eyed, she watched children racing across the schoolyard, their laughter ringing like birdsong in the vast expanse. She sat quietly in the courtyard, a small book in her hands whose letters she could not decipher, her heart carrying a s...
