Jallal Hamed: A National Journey Between Economics, Healthcare, and Drama| Sudanow Magazine

Khartoum (Sudanow) — Dr. Jallal Hamed is considered one of Sudan’s most prominent figures, combining economics, humanitarian work, public diplomacy, and artistic creativity. His contributions span economics, health, culture, and the arts, alongside building strong relationships with presidents and officials in several countries around the world.

Dr. Jallal Hamed is widely known as one of the pioneers of public diplomacy in Sudan, having played an influential role in strengthening international relations through economic, humanitarian, and cultural initiatives. He was also honored by the Government of India in recognition of his contributions and research in economics, which directly contributed to supporting and growing the Indian economy.

He is credited with introducing medical tourism to India for Sudanese patients, drawing on his academic background after earning a PhD in Hospital Administration. Since then, he has pursued an ambitious national project aimed at localizing healthcare in Sudan by transferring and adapting the Indian experience to develop the Sudanese health sector.

Despite the challenges and obstacles facing these initiatives—including limited engagement and inconsistent implementation—he has remained committed to his mission, driven by a strong belief in the importance of such efforts in serving the nation and its citizens by facilitating treatment, reducing patient suffering, and helping conserve foreign currency.

In addition to his humanitarian initiatives, Dr. Jallal Hamed has contributed to supporting victims of Sudan’s revolution by facilitating treatment for several patients who were referred through the former Council of Ministers.

He also succeeded in bringing a group of highly skilled Indian surgeons specializing in cleft lip and palate surgeries to perform free operations for children through the Sudanese Disability Organization. This initiative received wide appreciation from Mr. Ali Osman Mohammed Taha, Chairman of the organization, who described him as a “first-class patriotic figure” working for Sudan beyond political or tribal affiliations.

During the war period, he continued his national and humanitarian efforts by facilitating the arrival of Indian doctors to treat injured patients and war casualties in Port Sudan. These efforts were praised by the Ministry of Health in recognition of his humanitarian and medical contributions during exceptional circumstances.

Despite his success in economics and business, his interests extend into culture and the arts. He is a writer, author, and artist who has enriched Sudanese television drama with several works, particularly Ramadan series such as “Durob Al-Awda,” “Sikka Daya’a,” and his latest production “We Shall Return and Sudan Will Be Stronger and United.” These works carry national and humanitarian themes reflecting Sudanese society and its aspirations for the future.

In a notable recent achievement, Dr. Jallal Hamed told Sudanow that he was honored to represent all 14 branches of the Kauvery Hospital Group and was entrusted with the responsibility of hosting and honoring a delegation from the Central Government of India during its inspection visit to the group, which is reserved for major hospitals.

He explained that the visit reflects the high standing of Kauvery Hospitals as one of India’s leading medical institutions, internationally recognized as a world-class hospital after receiving the Joint Commission International (JCI) 8th Edition accreditation.

He added that this recognition carries great personal and symbolic value, representing appreciation not only for the International Patient Services department he works with, but also for Sudan and its people. He noted that Kauvery Hospitals maintains a strong relationship with Sudanese patients and has recently introduced special facilitation and discounts for them.

He reaffirmed that the ultimate goal of these efforts is to transfer advanced medical expertise to Sudan and contribute to localizing healthcare services, so that Sudan can become a future medical destination. This vision, he noted, aligns with the direction of Sudan’s Ministry of Health.

He concluded by expressing gratitude to the management of Kauvery Hospitals for their trust and support, and wished continued success in all efforts that serve humanity and the nation.
