Sudanow Extends New Hijri Year Greetings to the Islamic Nation
16 June, 2026
Khartoum (Sudanow) —
"The full moon has risen upon us from the hills of Wada'.
Gratitude is incumbent upon us as long as there are those who call upon Allah.
O you who have been sent among us, bringing a command to be obeyed,
You have honored Madinah by your arrival; welcome, O best of callers to Allah."
With these famous verses, the people of Yathrib (Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah) welcomed Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) upon his arrival as a migrant from Makkah.
As Muslims across the world celebrate the beginning of the New Hijri Year 1448 AH on the first day of Muharram, the editorial team of Sudanow Magazine extends its warmest congratulations on this blessed occasion to all Muslims and to the patient and steadfast people of Sudan. We pray that Allah may return this occasion upon everyone with goodness, peace, and blessings, and that security and stability may prevail throughout our homeland.

We ask Allah to relieve Sudan’s hardships and protect its people, drawing inspiration and strength from the example of the noble Prophet Muhammad ibn Abdullah (peace and blessings be upon him) and from the lessons of his blessed life. When persecution by the polytheists intensified in Makkah, he migrated in obedience to Allah’s command after being granted permission to leave for Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah. He departed from his homeland and family for the sake of spreading the message of Islam, and Allah granted him success in his mission. In time, he returned to Makkah victorious and honored, forgiving those who had wronged him and driven him from his homeland without just cause.

We pray that Allah grants victory to Sudan, its people, and its Armed Forces, and blesses the nation with a bright future filled with peace, security, and prosperity. May He allow us to witness the coming Hijri year while our country is clothed in peace and stability, and may Allah remove the sorrows of Sudan, its people, and the entire Muslim Ummah, just as He brought comfort and relief to His noble Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
The Noble Hijrah contains profound lessons and enduring values that should guide our lives, including determination, patience, trust in Allah, and the importance of choosing righteous friends and companions. These values are reflected in the Holy Qur’an, where Allah says:
“If you do not support him, Allah has already supported him when those who disbelieved drove him out as one of two. When they were in the cave and he said to his companion, ‘Do not grieve; indeed, Allah is with us.’ Then Allah sent down His tranquility upon him and supported him with forces you did not see, and He made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest, while the Word of Allah remained supreme. And Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.”
(Qur’an 9:40)
The Hijrah marked a decisive victory for Islam and became the foundation upon which the Islamic state was built and its pillars firmly established. We hope that this blessed anniversary will inspire Sudan toward reform, national renewal, and progress, encouraging all its people to overcome differences and work together in building a great nation that embraces everyone.
Happy New Hijri Year. May Allah bless all with peace, prosperity, and goodness.
