Two Bikers Tour Europe to Showcase Sudan's True Essence

Khartoum - (Sudanow) — On July 2nd, a unique expedition kicked off, blending the spirit of adventure and exploration with a noble mission: introducing Sudan and its rich culture to the world, reflecting its true identity, and hoisting the national flag in distant corners of the globe. Pioneered by the "Red Line" Motorcycle Club, the extraordinary transcontinental journey is being led by Dr. Amr Al-As, a retina surgery specialist, and Engineer Karim Ehab, an electronics and programming specialist.
The journey began with a flight from Port Sudan to Vienna, the Austrian capital. From there, the duo mounted their motorcycles and headed toward the Italian border, covering a distance of 260 kilometers. After taking a brief rest upon entering Italy, they pushed forward to Venice before heading to Croatia, logging between 300 to 400 kilometers. Due to severe weather conditions and the scorching heatwaves currently sweeping the region, their route was adjusted. Instead of heading to France after crossing several Croatian cities, they redirected toward Slovenia, subsequently riding into Milan, Italy, to overnight.

On Saturday morning, July 11, the riders are scheduled to set off for Switzerland, traversing the Alps through the German-speaking Swiss region until they reach the city of Lucerne. After taking in the breathtaking scenery of the Alpine countryside, they will head to Geneva, where the Sudanese flag will be proudly raised over Lake Geneva. Their return route will take them through the French Alps back to Milan, and then to Austria, where this historic journey is expected to conclude on July 16.
Speaking to Sudanow, Engineer Faisal Hadi, President of the Red Line Club and Technical Director of the Sudanese Shipping Lines, outlined the objectives of the tour. He emphasized that it is, first and foremost, a journey driven by wanderlust, passion, and adventure, aiming to introduce Sudan and showcase the best of Sudanese civilization across European nations by raising the national flag. Out of sensitivity to the current situation, the riders are deliberately avoiding political discussions of war and peace, focusing entirely on projecting a bright image of Sudan. Eng. Faisal also highlighted the club's local activities, including internal tours and national initiatives, the most recent of which was participating in a campaign in Khartoum supporting citizens returning to the capital.

The Red Line Club President shared an anecdote from one of his own previous trips to Croatia, where a local citizen spotted the club’s logo and the Sudanese flag, calling out to stop them: "I’ve been to Sudan! I know that country well and have visited several of its cities." Eng. Faisal stressed the importance of engaging with people about Sudan in places where it is unfamiliar, noting that many people abroad are unaware that Sudan is one of the largest African nations, boasting immense diversity across all its regions.
Addressing the two riders, Dr. Amr Al-As and Eng. Karim Ehab, the club president remarked that they currently embody the spirit of the Sudanese biking community, noting that the hearts of many are accompanying them with every kilometer.
"All bikers in Sudan across various teams and clubs, along with many of your brothers in the Arab world, are following your journey with immense pride. What you are presenting today is an honorable representation of the Sudanese biker, a message that the spirit of brotherhood, passion, and challenge knows no borders," Eng. Faisal said. "Enjoy the road, for the joy of the journey lies not just in reaching the destination, but in every moment lived, every experience embraced, and every memory made. Be as we have always known you: role models in ethics, discipline, road safety, and camaraderie. We pray for your safety at every mile, and look forward to your return bearing the most beautiful stories and wonderful memories."

It is worth noting that the Red Line Motorcycle Club was established in 2014 and is headquartered in Port Sudan. It has participated in numerous national and international events, is officially registered with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and stands as the sole motorcycle club in the Red Sea State.
