A Victorious Army… A Capable People The Sudanese Armed Forces Celebrate Their 72nd Anniversary
14 August, 2026
Khartoum – Sudanow
The Sudanese nation celebrates, on August 14, the 72nd anniversary of the Sudanese Armed Forces, a national occasion that recalls the bright chapters of an army that, for decades, has remained one of the foremost pillars of the state and a guardian of its sovereignty and security.
The editorial team of Sudanow Magazine extends its highest congratulations and best wishes to the Sudanese Armed Forces, its officers and soldiers, and to the Sudanese people on this national occasion. We pray that God protects Sudan and its people, grants the Armed Forces victory in their efforts, and brings security, stability, and peace to the country.
This year’s Armed Forces anniversary comes amid rapidly evolving developments on the battlefield and successive advances across several fronts, particularly in Kordofan and Darfur, as efforts continue to restore security and extend state authority across the country.
The anniversary’s slogan, “A Victorious Army… A Capable People,” carries a significance that goes beyond the celebration itself. It reflects the historic relationship between the Armed Forces and the Sudanese people: the army draws its strength from the will of its people, while the people see their army as one of the institutions of the state entrusted with protecting national sovereignty and safeguarding security.
Over the course of 72 years, the Sudanese Armed Forces have established a prominent place in Sudan’s modern history and remained an integral part of the country’s state-building journey, drawing on a legacy shaped by national service, experience, and sacrifice in defending the homeland, protecting its borders, and safeguarding its resources.
“A Victorious Army… A Capable People” is more than a slogan for the Armed Forces’ national anniversary. It is a message that captures the meaning of solidarity in confronting challenges and affirms that rebuilding Sudan and securing its stability require a strong state, capable institutions, and a people committed to their homeland and its future.
On the 72nd anniversary of the Sudanese Armed Forces, we salute the martyrs, honor those stationed on the front lines of duty and sacrifice, and pray for the speedy recovery of the wounded and for the safe return of the missing to their families.
Happy 72nd Anniversary to the Sudanese Armed Forces, and may Sudan continue its journey toward greater security, stability, and dignity.
