Personal Information
- Lieutenant General Ahmed Mohamed Hamad Al-Jaali was the first Sudanese Commander-in-Chief of the Army.
- He was born in the Mohamed Qol area, Red Sea Province, in December 1896.
- He received his primary and intermediate education at Suakin Elementary School, then joined the Engineering Department at Gordon College (later Gordon Memorial College) as a military cadet.
Graduation
- He graduated in January 1917.
- He was awarded the first Sword of Honor, granted to the top cadet of his class. Upon graduation, he joined the Corps of Military Engineers of the Egyptian Army on January 1, 1917.

Wars and Service
- He participated in World War II in Eastern Sudan and in North Africa with the Sudan Defence Force in the 1940s.
- He was attached to the XII Corps under Brigadier General Gifford, who commanded British forces in Sudan.
- He served as Chief of Staff of the XII Corps in North Africa from 1940 to 1943, when the Allied Headquarters was in Cairo.
- In 1953, he was appointed Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army.
- In 1954, he became Commander-in-Chief, the first Sudanese officer to hold the post.
- On April 1, 1955, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General. He retired on June 28, 1956, after nearly forty years of distinguished military service.

- Immediately after assuming command, he renamed the Sudan Defence Force to the *Sudanese Army*, making August 14, 1954, the official Army Day celebrated annually.
- Throughout his service, he completed all security assessment and advanced command courses required for officers aspiring to the post of Commander-in-Chief.
His Death
- He passed away on November 20, 1986.
