Sudanese Knights Write Glory in Moscow and Qualify for the World Tent Pegging Cup

In a new achievement added to the record of Sudanese equestrian sport, the Sudanese Tent Pegging Team secured qualification for the World Cup finals after topping its group in the qualifiers held in the Russian capital, Moscow. Sudan finished ahead of the teams of South Africa, Iraq, and Russia in a group marked by fierce competition and a high technical standard.
The Sudanese team’s qualification came under exceptional circumstances resulting from the difficult situation facing the country, which has created major challenges for the sports sector, particularly in maintaining regular training and ensuring adequate technical and logistical preparations. Nevertheless, Sudan’s knights demonstrated that determination can overcome even the toughest circumstances, and that the national flag can be raised high even during the most difficult times.
Sudan’s top position in the group was by no means an easy achievement, given the presence of strong and experienced teams in tent pegging competitions. This makes the accomplishment even more significant, reflecting the outstanding level demonstrated by the Sudanese riders and their ability to cope with competitive pressure and achieve strong results in one of the toughest qualifying groups.
On the individual level, Sudanese riders continued to excel. Rider Al-Waleed Bashir Mustafa won the gold medal on the first day of competition after finishing at the top of the standings, before adding a bronze medal on the third day, further confirming his strong presence among the elite riders taking part in the qualifiers.
Rider Mohamed Ali Shabili also achieved an impressive feat, winning three consecutive silver medals over the three days of competition. His performance reflected consistency, strong concentration, and the ability to compete for the top positions throughout the qualifiers.
This achievement carries added significance, not only because it secured Sudan a place in the World Tent Pegging Cup finals, but also because it was accomplished at a time when Sudanese sport is facing unprecedented challenges and when circumstances have severely limited opportunities for training, preparation, and regular participation.
With this achievement, Sudan’s knights have once again demonstrated that Sudanese sporting determination knows no impossible, and that difficult circumstances have not prevented them from achieving glory. Instead, those challenges have become an additional source of motivation to fight for their country and raise Sudan’s flag on the international stage.
From Moscow to the World Cup, Sudan’s knights march forward with confidence, carrying the flag of a nation whose sons have once again proved that achievement is possible, no matter how great the challenges.
