Sudan National Football Team To Play Zambia
11 March, 2018
KHARTOUM (Sudanow) - The National Football Team of Sudan will clash its Zambian counterpart in a friendly match on 27 March, announced the Sudan Football Association (SFA).
The SFA said the friendly match with Zamia was part of its effort “for continuous preparation of the National Team for the upcoming contests and after the National Team’s excellent performance in the recent CHAN tournament in Morocco, in which it ranked third.”
The CHAN tournament is a contest of African national teams the African Football Confederation (CAF) organizes for home- based players around the Continent.
The SFA further disclosed that it has received offers for friendly matches from ‘well known’ football agents through the world football governing body the FIFA.
Among these, according to the SFA, is a match against Ruanda which Sudan rejected “in the light of the events that accompanied Sudan’s match against Ruanda in Tunis.”
Sudan was scheduled to play Ruanda during the two national teams camp in Tunisia in preparation for the CHAN tournament. But Ruanda had unilaterally cancelled the encounter.
The SFA further said it has received an apology from Libya for a friendly match against the Northern African country’s national team. According to the SFA also Sudan has apologized from a four-team tournament in Iraq which was supposed to bring together Sudan, Iraq and Qatar because its date is in conflict with the already scheduled match against Zambia.
The Sudan premier league will draw to a halt on 22 March to prepare the National Team for the Zamia match.
