A statement by the government of the Government of the Republic of Sudan in Recognition of the Republic of Southern Sudan

Khartoum, (sudanow.info.sd) - Sudan has officially recognized the new born Republic of south Sudan as an independence and sovereign state as of the 9th of July 2011, a presidential decree said on Friday.
"The Republic of the Sudan declares is recognition of the establishment of the Republic of southern Sudan as an independent and sovereign state as of July 9th in accordance with the existing boundaries between north and south Sudan as of January 1st 1956 and as they were when the Comprehensive Peace Agreement CPA was signed in January 9th 2005, and in accordance with the norms and the principles of the international law related to recognition of states, " the statement, named Statement by the government of the Republic of the Sudan in recognition of the Republic of south Sudan, said on Friday.
The statement pointed out that as Sudan expresses its "wishes for the establishment of a state, safe and prosperous, it is looking forward for a special relations with the republic of south Sudan based on the historic relations that bound the peoples of the two counties and in conformity with the values of international cooperation, bilateral respect and good neighborliness."
The statement has stressed that the Sudan reiterates its commitment to settle all the remaining issues stemming from the CPA and the post secession through negotiation, dialogue and cooperation aiming at a brighter future whereby the people of the two countries enjoy peace development and stability.
"As the republic of the Sudan hereby recognized the establishment of the Republic of South Sudan, calls upon the government of the Republic of south Sudan to recognize the treaties and agreements entered into by the Republic of the Sudan whether bilateral, regional or international" the statement concluded.
The statement read by the Minister at the Presidency of the Republic, General Bakri Hassan Salih, was announced a few hours after the arrival of the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon arrived to Khartoum for a meeting with officials here prior to his trip to Juba, capital of southern Sudan, where the celebrations are to take place.
The statement comes amid mixed feelings about the separation of southern Sudan. Thursday evening, the Sudanese army, 188,000 strong body, relieved between 15,000 to 17,000 southern officers, and private as part of its streamline the status and in preparation for the official recognition of southern Sudan.
On Friday the Sudanese council for press and publication issued a statement in which it suspending the publication of six English and Arabic speaking daily newspaper owned by people who belong now to southern Sudan. These papers include Khartoum Monitor, an English speaking daily and Ajras Hurria, a leftist leaning Arabic daily.
