Sudan the Second Republic: land of opportunities
09 July, 2011By: Ahmed Alhaj (Site Admin)
Today Sudan as we used to know has changed. It has changed and forever. Tears and fears, joy and grinning smiles, ululations and moaning on one side and the other could be heard. But great nations have to move on. The dice of change has been cast. New entities have come into being.
Two nations are now facing a new future, and new challenges. In southern Sudan a new nation was born. In northern Sudan a new republic has shaken off the dust of the past and come out vigorous and aspiring. Whatever be the differences the two countries have one element in common: Sudan.
One sure element is Sudanese and northern Sudanese have now honored their commitment and have shown the world that civilization is something in the morrow of the bone, it is not a skin deep beauty. They have reached this stage through peaceful means and created two nations which will have little if any hard feeling. It is the second common element: civility and civilization.
It is difficult to part. This could be seen in almost all encounters between northern and southern Sudanese parting for their new homeland . even in the armed forces where tears are as rare as bird's milk, the fearful men at war, were not able to inhibit their tears at time of departure. A third element in common: social bonds and shared feelings.
The north and south have to show how they could make use of their huge resources, untapped and may be hindered by the conflict and strife. Now is time for two giants to surface in the middle of the African continent. One last element they shared: Africa. And maybe one day they would surprise the world once again in a few years, and be the yeast for the New States of Africa.Amen mohamed osman adam/editor in chief,9th of July 2011.
