Two peacekeepers injured in an ambush in West Darfur

Khartoum, (sudanow.info.sd)- A press release by the United Nations African Union Mission In Darfur (UNAMID) said two UNAMID peacekeepers were injured on 22 July in an ambush by unknown persons between Ardamata and Dorti internally displaced persons (IDP) Camps, near El Geneina, West Darfur, while escorting two fuel tankers.
One soldier sustained a gunshot injury to the shoulder and has been evacuated to Khartoum. His condition is serious. The other soldier, who was wounded on one of his hands, was taken to the Mission hospital in El Geneina and is in a stable condition. UNAMID is currently investigating the incident.
