Twenty five hundred patient rehabilitated in Sudan since 1990 the ICRC says

Khartoum, (Sudanow) – Seventeen persons working at National Authority for Prosthetics and Orthotics (NAPO) centers have completed a five-day course in computerized patient management run jointly by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the National Authority, a statement issued by the ICRC said in Khartoum.
"We are very pleased that employees of NAPO rehabilitation centers from all over Sudan participated in this course," commented Pascal Hundt, head of the ICRC delegation in Sudan. "Being able to use the new software will make the participants' work easier."he explained.
The statement said the computerized management system makes it possible to follow up on patients more quickly and efficiently, not least because the data are centralized and better secured.
"If a patient interrupts his therapy or moves from one centre to another, treatment can easily be resumed. Another advantage of the software is that it can be adapted to the Arabic language. After Afghanistan, Myanmar and Cambodia, Sudan is the fourth country where the ICRCis introducing the new computerized patient management system. "
The statement pointed out that NAPO rehabilitation centers provide patients with prostheses, or thoses, walking aids and physiotherapy.
The ICRC has been working with the centers since 1990. It currently supports seven NAPO centers, located in Damzain, Dongola, Gedaref, Kadugli, Kassala, Khartoum and Nyala, and a mobile clinic.
"Between January and September 2011, these centers treated over 2,500 patients" the ICRC statement pointed out.
