Sudan officially notifies UN of the end of UNMIS term in the country by July the 9th

Khartoum, May 28 (Sudanow) - Sudan has officially notified the United Nations of the end of the term of the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) on July 9th, 2011 .
The Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khalid Musa, told the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Karti, has sent a message to UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, about the official termination of UN Mission in Sudan on July 9th, the end of the interim period of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement .
He said the minister has expressed in his message to the Secretary General, the appreciation of the government of Sudan for the assistance provided by UNMIS to the efforts deployed to implement the CPA in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution No 1590 (2005) as well as the agreement between the Government of Sudan and international body about UNMIS .
He said Minister Karti has assured UN Secretary General that Sudan has shown the utmost cooperation, transparency and commitment to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement with all concerned parties .
The Spokesman said the Minister of Foreign Affairs has underlined in his message that in line with the with the UN Security Council Resolution No.1978 on extension of UNMIS mandate up to July 9th, 2011, the Government of Sudan has decided to officially end the presence of UNMIS in the country on the 9th July, 2011, coinciding with the end interim period of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement CPA .
