The meetings of the Arab league Economic and Social Council kick off in Khartoum

KHARTOUM, (Sudanow) - The meetings of the Arab League Social and Economic Council kicked off in Khartoum Sunday.
The Under Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, Yusuf Abdul Mohsein, inaugurated the opening session of the extra-ordinary meeting attended by senior official.
The Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs at the Arab league, Dr Ibrahim Al Twaigri, has pointed out that the initiative aims at achieving Arab Food security, based on three main commodities mainly cereals, sugar and oils.
He said there has been coordination between the Arab league and the Sudan to provide the private sector greater chances in the food security projects in the Sudan, while Arab funds would handle the infrastructures required to provide an impetus for the projects and to make available energy.
He said the main demand before the Sudan is to prepare an investment conducive environment. He reaffirmed his conviction about the potentials and resources in the Sudan and the country’s ability to create such a stable and promising investment climate.
He expressed his hope that the food gap would be closed by the year 2030 in the Arab world.
The Undersecretary for Finance, has stressed Sudan's commitment to implement the initiative launched by the President of the Republic and to provide all the necessary resources to this end.
He said this extraordinary session would be seeking to review the necessary measures for implementation and the success of the initiative, in full coordination between the Arab league and the Sudan.
He underlined that the Sudan was qualified, given its abundant natural resources and its vast arable lands, water and rich animal resources, as well as the diverse climate, to contribute immensely in the Arab food security.
He pinpointed that the government of the Sudan has taken the necessary measure to create an investment conducive conditions.
He referred to the economic reform package introduced by the government beside the use of the most uptodate information technology, facilitating of investment measures and upgrading the investment act for the year 2013.
He underlined that the Sudan was guided by a national vision that opens the doors for all Arab institution to contribute in the implementation of this initiative.
