When Conspirators Speak

By: Ahmed Alhaj (Site Admin)

Khartoum, (sudanow.info.sd) - Westerners, including in particular Americans, have continued to preach day and night through their own media and through political rhetorics, that they are the nation of honesty, the advocates of democracy and worshipers of justice, who desperately defend human rights and uphold the values ??of truth, goodness and beauty.

Though, if we put in the picture what is displayed on the ground, we would find a lot of mutilation and abuse of the truth, portraying us as excessive to audience presentation and embracing the conspiracy theory to justify our weakness and backwardness.

However, some sincere writers among them and through careful monitoring of the many attitudes and statements gave us a beautiful award to know and expose them.

It is through some articles recently written by influential American newspapers on the subject of the secession of southern Sudan, that we find the genesis of conspiracy on the matter exposed.

In an article written in the (The Atlantic) Newspaper,  the American journalist, Renca Hamilton says that in 1989 the Republican Congressman Frank Wolf and Democrat Michael Capuano travelled to South Sudan followed by Donald Payne, to meet John Garang. They set up a "Sudan Caucus," in the Congress, headed by Payne, which began its action on Sudan in 2005.

After his return to Washington he urged the US House of Representatives to pass a resolution supporting the right of self-determination for Southern Sudan and the Congress condemned the government of Sudan for what was described as the "Genocide it waged in Southern Sudan."

These efforts were supported by members of the Congress through an active alliance of evangelical and American of Africans, Jews, and groups of secular activists, who sustained their efforts and action on Sudan for more than two decades. They ultimately succeeded to persuade three consecutive US presidents to place Sudan as a priority on the US foreign policy agenda.

A US official who was not authorized to deal with the media and who has worked on these issues for many decades, revealed that the American concern over Sudan was not on the spur of the moment saying that behind what was happening, there was a small group of people who worked behind the scenes for nearly twenty years.

A report issued by the Congress Research Service enlists all that have been done in this regard all the way up to the Clinton-era, and among these attempts was the provision of more than $ 20 million U.S. military surplus in the form of equipment sent to the neighboring countries of Sudan. The report says that the equipment, helped to reverse the battle that the Sudanese government used to win against the southern rebels.

The additional pressure on the government was culminated in 1993 with the Sudan being regarded as a state sponsor of terrorism. In 1997, the imposition of comprehensive economic sanctions, have prevented American companies from operating in Sudan.

Also US media quoted former Africa File official at the National Security Council, John Prendergast who is well known for his enmity towards Sudan, as saying at the peak of the false euphoria of the independence of the South, that  he felt sorry  because they could not do so in the mid-nineties when he was working in the Clinton Administration.

Franklin Graham, one of the most important Christians in America has meanwhile told President Bush "We must always remember Sudan" and also not to forget President Bush's Envoy to Sudan Sen. John Danforth, who himself is a priest, has said that the South should secede from the north to protect the Christians.

The New York Times reported that the US Consul in Juba said, "When working with someone like George Clooney you don’t need to cooperate with others. George Clooney has a big influence..... Was it possible to separate the South without the support of celebrities and movie stars? I think they have played a big role ....... when millions sent letters via the Internet to the US Presidents … surely this makes a difference. "

The same newspaper, in a clear confession, adds “famous American figures collaborated with American Christian societies and American politicians to help a weak movement to achieve what  other secessionist movements in other countries failed to achieve; the separation. Sudan has remained a mind occupation for the West for more than a hundred years. It is a matter of question, why all this concern about southern Sudan? Why no other war zones in the world has received that much attention? Why South Sudan alone and not other areas of bloodbath in Africa like Liberia and Somalia and elsewhere?

According to the Washington’s journal of Foreign Policy Association “in fact, the conflict in Sudan between the Arab Muslim North and Christian South was the cause of concern of the Christianity societies  in the United States. Over decades these associations sought the independence for South Sudan.

In 2000, President Bush placed Sudan on top of his foreign affairs agenda.  Being a famous Christian President helped to sign the 2005 agreement, which promised to divide Sudan.

It is certain that this information is made available through the media, but the most coming dangerous intention is what the powerful American politicians harbor.  Vigilance and in-depth reading of what is going on behind the scenes is the key for successful dealing and deterring their policies to limit the negative impacts on our nation.
