Khartoum, Dec. 31, 2014 (SUDANOW)- Following is the unofficial translation of the full text of the speech delivered by the President of the Republic Omar al- Bashir on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of Sudan’s Independence Day, 1st of January:-

Praise be to Allah for the blessing He bestowed on us, and peace and blessing be upon his messenger, the last of all the prophets and messengers, and peace and blessing be upon all His messengers, day and night, so long as time lasts.

Dear compatriots,

At this time, we meet each year, in celebration of the august anniversary of the Independence day, to remember with pride and appreciation the memory of our heroes, our political and social leaders, the sons of this dear homeland, who have performed to the best level of performance in service of this homeland…

Those are the sons of the Sudan who worked physically and spiritually, setting the basis of solidarity, sacrifices and integrity, to secure our independence and freedom. They are the ones who made sacrifices of their souls, shed their blood and sweat in the way for the nation to break the yoke of hegemony from the colonization,

For those who have held tight to the path of unity of the national rank, until the colonizers were chased away: this is the generation that worked with steadfastness, standing in face of the challenges and came out victorious for the freedom and the dignity of the Sudanese people. They were loyal and affiliated to the homeland, loyal to its people : May Allah bless their souls and pour the shower of mercy upon their tombs..

This celebration of ours, is but an extension to the invariables set by an august number of men and women of our homeland…

Today we renew, on the occasion of this historic occasion, our commitment to work industriously and with all sincerity, with solid determination and consistence, to contribute in the construction of the homeland and to preserve the dignity of its people, protect the identity of the people who are committed to their lofty values and noble values.

We are indeed in need for holding to our belief in ourselves and confidence in our past and hope in our future, this is because we hold to a faith that has particularly instilled in the souls the meaning of dignity, the spirit of confidence without arrogance and calling on us to depend on Allah’s will, but without complacency or dependency…

Dear loyal compatriots…

This Independence which was achieved with the free national will, is a source of pride for all of us the Sudanese people, a pride that all generations should cherish, and from which they should learn lessons, drawn from sacrifices made by generations after generations, to protect the gains achieved by our homeland.

Thus a new generation of youth who are cloaked with the spirit of nationalism, will grow up, armed with responsibility and a devotion to work, sincere with themselves, working solely for the benefit of the country, away from vested interests and tight affiliations that will divert attention that put in the bud all aspirations for lofty values and duty, keeping away from all invasive elements of westernization and intellectual deprivation, that surround many youth and young men,

It is thus imperative that the feeling of national duty should not be an ephemeral and passing or temporary feeling, but should be firmly rooted in the hearts and in the consciousness of all people,

And it should remain within our souls and spirits until all the objectives desired are reached and attained for this noble people. Therefore we should always ask ourselves and go through our daily activities and ask ourselves what we have done for the people of the Sudan, what duties have we accomplished for our community??

Any citizen who think of and see duty from this stand point, is the one who will govern himself by himself and will be beneficial to his community and to his homeland, this is the conduct that we should make our yardstick and our culture, daily culture, the culture of each and every one of use, individually and collectively…

Dear brothers and sisters ,

Political parties and organizations should bear their historic responsibility and place the national interests higher, above all other considerations, so that our people in all corners of the country, will reach a stage they deserve, a stage where all citizens will stand as personification of the saying and the identity of this constant saying “am Sudanese” where all will contribute and will take the initiative to contribute in the national construction, not destruction, where all will criticize freely and provide suggestion and proposal away from any partisan quibbling.

Our elites, intellectuals and all scholars and all professors, teachers, at kindergarten, schools, all preachers, all advocates and press and media men should devote their pen and thoughts and all means of communications for the sole purpose of enlightening our people, upgrading their community, seeking its development for the better in all walks of life…

Dear compatriots

Throughout the past years we achieved qualitative leaps forwards in our political practices, our social and economic developments and our country has witnessed lots of achievements, where the best of our thoughts and efforts were exerted in planning and in execution of all the basic pillars- the basis for comprehensive and inclusive development towards economic and financial stability, through making utmost use of our country's potentials, of the promising land and resourceful homeland

Those who declared independence faced challenges and difficulties, but today we are trying to remove those hurdles and difficulties and to set the ground for the youth for a bright future… our endeavors to follow sound and comprehensive economic and financial policies will never cease, our endeavors to achieve sustainable development and our quest to achieve social justice and to secure honorable living for our citizens will never stop. This will be achieved through speeding up the economic wheel, encouraging production and attracting investment and investors, from inside and outside the Sudan to positively contribute in the development process…This will be coupled with endeavor to combat extravagant consumption, cutting down expenditure and working to combat poverty and provide basic services for all people.
The Higher Committee set to draft a state reform policy which was announced by the First Vice President of the Republic, Bakri Hassan Salih, and which is composed of six specialized subcommittee, is about to complete its work and complete its profound analysis with the view to reach practical solutions to the economic and civil service reform, draft laws and legislation and strengthening the social fiber, re-evaluate the foreign policy and national defense: it has almost finalized its work.
Dear compatriots

Peace has been our target and our lofty principle. It has been the guideline for our internal and foreign policies, it remains a strategic objective that we all work to achieve, so as to guarantee security, stability, development, progress and full and sustainable peace, based on the principles of dignity and pride, non submission and surrendering to no threat that try to tarnish the sovereignty of the Sudan, the stability of its citizens. We remain a state that is based on the rule of law and institutions, preserving to the Judiciary system its status, which is the strongest of pillars and an authentic application of justice and in preserving the rights and protecting them.

Dear compatriots

The principle of dialogue is a principle of existence that has been set by the Almighty, well before man was created, and Allah set the principle of dialogue as an outstanding principle, valid forever, in any place where man exists. Therefore the all inclusive national dialogue which we laid for all Sudanese, through our previous encounters, since January this year, is a valid principle for our political life. We have unleashed it in accordance with the state vision and its strategic plans. This strategic plan has pointed out to the importance of national accord and to peaceful co-existence and to social progress. The process of dialogue in which we have been engaged, and for which we have been advocating, is a strategic objective and it is never a bargaining or bluffing, as some propagate, and we are never allowing it to be stopped or impeded.. It remains a national dialogue for all political forces and all elements of the society, leaving no one behind, and excepting no one, save those who refuse to join the process, with the view to reach a national accord and a rapprochement of views and stands on the national and vital issues, with the aim of facing all internal and foreign challenges. Our objective in all this is to see all Sudanese people come together, a unified and consistent circle, leaving out all nepotism, regionalism and tribalism. We will proceed with our march, for which we have been committed and in which we have made considerable strides spurred by the quick and clear response of our community, and by the noticeable response for a societal dialogue.

We call, and never fail to repeat our calls, for all political forces and for all the armed rebel movements, to all those who lay down their arms joining join the peace process that they are save and secure to join in…
Dear loyal compatriots and dear audience

We are only a few months away from the elections.. This is an opportunity to bring all the Sudanese people around a due constitutional right, to chose and to vote freely…Those who argue that the elections, if held on the time set, would impede the process of dialogue seem to ignore or are not aware that elections, in essence, are but a process of dialogue, based on debates and political argumentation, laying out visions and views and political progremmes, proposing solutions for the problems facing the country and its outstanding issues..

Elections are but a dialogue framework…They are but dialogue at the level of the people, where the people will decide through the ballot boxes, aren't the elections free competitions, free dialogue and concessional frame that preserve for all political forces their rights as a channel for the political process and for the peaceful exchange of power? Those who reject the principle of elections and the principle of the peaceful exchange of power are only denying the people this popular process.. We are a state that draws its legitimacy from the principle of shura, dialogue and elections and the political process through democratic framework, through peaceful and consensual frameworks.

Political parties have to engage in the free competition and arm themselves with sincerity, openness and seriousness, discarding all skepticism and negativism, avoid unleashing prejudices, allegations and accusations about the outcome of the elections well before they were even conducted… and to those who are wondering about how elections could be held at a time the country is facing challenges, had the country not been facing challenges when the 2010 elections were held? Are all countries where the elections were held not facing challenges, even those developed countries, haven't they faced any difficulties??

The elections commission has announced that it has secured all the conditions for free and fair elections and stated that it would adhere fully to the elections laws and regulations, which are due constitutional rights, that should be implemented. preserving the security of the homeland and its stability necessitate that elections be held on time set.

we will remain bound by our principles, raising the banners for peace, but at the same time we will push away anything that seeks to harm our country, combating foes and enemies and repulse any aggression that seeks to undermine its sovereignty or try to tarnish a single grain of the soil of the dear homeland..

Once again we renew our salute for the gallant armed forces, the police forces, the security and all their peers, the popular defense forces, the popular police who defend the homeland and its identity, our greeting for the youth who have been defending, willingly the homeland, coming out whenever a call for recruitment is announced, hurrying to the training camps, displaying a nationalist value, that has its significance and is highly considered… we are determined to push forward in the development, training and capacity building to help defend the peripheries of the homeland….
Dear compatriot, dear audience present here

we seek fostering the bonds of friendship and brotherhood with all countries of the world based on mutual respect, cooperation and appreciations, participating in the world peace and security, to help in the stability of the people and countries and their progress…. we will not miss this opportunity to express our highest of appreciation for the positive role that has been played by our partners at the regional level to help achieve peace in our country, push forward the economic efforts of our country.. we would like to mention here in particular the state of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, Egypt, Ethiopia, Chad and Eritrea and a particular salute and greeting for our friend China, and Russia with whom our relations have been witnessing steady progress and development.. our greetings to all our brothers .. the representatives of the diplomatic mission from the brotherly and sisterly countries who are present here taking part in our celebrations marking the august independence day, and our greeting to our loyal people in all corners of the great homeland, and to all our people expatriates outside the country.
Expressing out pride of this lofty occasions, dear compatriots.. we would stress out resolve to work all to cement the pillars of national invariables , preserving out national identity, maintain our resolve and steadfastness to protect the gains of the homeland and to double the efforts for speeding up the pace of production and productivity, always remembering with pride those who hoisted the flag of independence, and we pray to the almighty to guide our steps and to grant us the right path to what He loves and approves, and to protect our process and to grant us victory and success, and success could not be achieved without the will of the almighty, Allah protect us against all evil, through your mercy and will, and peace and blessing be upon your last and selected messenger, and may Allah bless us on the occasion of the birth day of our prophet the source of all lights and may Allah place us with him in the highest of paradise

And peace and blessing of Allah be upon you
and may you rest in peace and blessing each and every year..
