South Sudan Peace Talks Started In Khartoum

KHARTOUM (Sudanow) - South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit arrived in Khartoum Monday morning where he was received by President Omar Bashir and a number of senior officials.
President Kiir has taken part in the opening session of talks between the government of South Sudan and the different South Sudanese opposition groups.
President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, who arrived in Khartoum Monday, has also participated in the opening session along with President Bashir, IGAD representatives and Dr.Riek Machar Teny.
President Bashir was mandated by the inter-governmental authority on development (IGAD) to facilitate a second round of face–to-face discussion between President Salva Kiir Mayardit and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny.
The first round of face–to-face talks between them was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, last week.
Khartoum meeting will discuss and resolve the outstanding issues on governance and security arrangements and measures to be taken to rehabilitate the South Sudanese economy through bilateral cooperation between the Republic of South Sudan and the Republic of Sudan.
