Al-Bashir Vows to Continue Reform Efforts
20 October, 2015By: Aisha Braima
KHARTOUM (SUDANOW) - President Omar al-Bashir vowed Monday that efforts would continue unabated in reform of the institutions and legislations of the country for achieving transparency and integrity.
Addressing the opening sitting of the Legislature's second session, al-Bashir said more than sixty legislations would be drafted or amended in the coming weeks."Some of these will reinforce the effectiveness of the judiciary apparatus; others will facilitate the litigation procedures, while others will put in place prompt legislations against modern and across the borders crimes" he added.
The government announced last August that it will embark upon a reform process seeking to fight corruption, hold an all-inclusive national dialogue, achieve peace in the country and build the country in a way to provide better services for the people of the Sudan.
The President said the reform has already made an outstanding step forwards through close follow-up and by holding accountable numerous institutions "and for further reinforcement and in pursuit of these objectives, came the decision for the establishment of the Commission for Combating Corruption. We using varied means to this end, and particularly using electronic financial transactions that would facilitate provision of quick and sure services and guarantee their uprightness".
He said the economic reform program’s efforts have now started paying their fruits. " project of electronic collection of fees was a huge work; it is now spreading the mandate of the Ministry of Finance on public money and initiated the application of the principle of transparency and closing down any inlet for illicit collection of money from people" al-Bashir added.
Al-Bashir's address to the MPs tackled the main outlines of the government executive plan for 2016.
