Al-Barakal Festival Starts on Jan. 15

KHARTOUM (SUDANOW) – Jabal al-Barakal Festival for Culture, Tourism and Investment will take place in the period January 15-25 at the Northern State under the motto “Ascending to the peak of civilization”.
The festival is organized near the historic Barakal mountain, the epicenter of the ancient Napata civilization 850 BC-350 AC, now part of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.
The festival displays Northern State rich archeological and natural sites, offering chances for Sudanese and foreigners to generate tourism and investment opportunities.
It is also accompanied by various activities including traditional and folk songs, poetry galas, river sports, camel racing, rallies, folklore games, and other exhibitions.
The first version of the festival held there last year, was attended by over 60,000 people hailing from the various regions and cultures of the Sudan as well as African and Arab artistic troupes.
The festival area is reachable from Khartoum via buses and with interesting hotel services at reasonable prices for visitors.
