Japan Responds to Urgent Appeal for Children in Sudan
14 March, 2016KHARTOUM (SUDANOW) - The Japanese Ambassador to Khartoum has announced that his government has responded to an urgent appeal for children in Sudan by offering UNICEF 4.9 million US dollars.
The Ambassador, Hideki Ito, said in press statements on Sunday that the contribution is part of total funds intended for meeting the basic needs of the Sudanese children in areas of nutrition, health, water and sanitation in regions affected by conflicts in South and East Darfur and South and West Kordofan states.
UNICEF Representative in Sudan Geert Cappelaere expressed appreciation to the government and people of Japan as well as the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for their incessant support to the children in Sudan.
