KHARTOUM (SUDANOW) - The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has announced controlling all Jebel Marra areas in central Darfur after retaking from the rebel Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) of Abdul Wahid Nur their last main stronghold of Sorong.
SAF official spokesman, Brig. Dr. Ahmed Khalifa al-Shami, said in a statement that "the Armed Forces has continued its advances in all battle fronts and liberated – thanks be to Allah – all parts of Jabal Mara from the filth of the rebellion and imposed its full control on the area of Sorong, their last stronghold".
The statement added that "When the army delayed announcement of imposing its full control over all Jabal Mara areas, the mercenary Nur exploited this opportunity to disseminate false news on online media about their victories, but after this decisive battle we affirmed the end of the rebellion and mercenary movements in all five states of Darfur".
